My Food Storage Deals on TV!!

Yeah, that's right we have someone famous in the fam! Way to go Shandra. My sister Shandra was on KSL 5 for her business My Food Storage Deals.com. It made for a very fun and exciting day. You can watch her again on KBYU 11 Monday at noon. I think that the KSL clip on her was fantastic. We had a great party here on Friday night to watch her on the news. The moment they did the lead in on her we all screamed and screamed!!! Go to the link and take a look. Or you can view it on the side of my blog.

Kids...Kids...Kids...Kids...

Yeah, it's that time of year again that I get to watch LOTS of kids. I'm not complaining because it's really fun for me to see what kind of a mom would I be if I had more than two kids...How about SIX kids? I must admit, I'd go to bed earlier and I'd wake up earlier. But isn't that what we've been told to do? I think so. Anyways, a couple of other things I've realized is that I enjoy having the kids all different ages. I was able to use the "buddy" system. The old kids help the younger ones. Somehow we kept the house clean and the dishes done. For me on a normal day that's impossible! But for the past two days I was so happy we were on top of the mess that kids inevitably make! This is Jake's and Isaac's favorite past time...Climbing, jumping, falling and climbing some more! They are really lucky we have a deep freezer that connects the couch and chair to add to their fun of jumping.
You're looking at Jake's new big boy bed! Well, just the mattress. It's actually a funny story. We got a phone call from Todd saying we could get a twin mattress for $20 from RC Willey. Shortly after that we got another phone call from my sister saying that Jake's crib was recalled! So needless to say he's being forced to sleep in a big boy bed. We've yet to try it out yet, but we will here shortly. Until it becomes a bed Jake and Isaac LOVE jumping and falling into it. They really are hilarious!

He's learning to read the newspaper already...just in a funny way!
So with me being in charge of the older kids that have to catch the school bus in the morning. Alayna insisted on walking them to the bus stop each morning! She was so funny because she grabbed my boots and was out the door. If you look closely you can see all the big kids at the corner and Alayna waving goodbye to them.

Cute get up girl friend! Her latest thing has been to say, "Mom, I was just born two years to late!" She is just wishing she could be in kindergarten with Olivia! The poor thing is just tortured everyday not having her cousin home to play with her.

Oh, this is a picture of the activity that Jake and Isaac decided to play when I went to get Alayna in the shower. I was in the middle of making dinner, they climbed up to the counter, grabbed the pepper and started shaking it everywhere! The end result was worse then having to vacuum it up. They both sneezed and rubbed their eyes which made them both start screaming saying while running down the hallway, "My eyes...My eyes!" So they both ended up getting in the bath and having to flush out their eyes.
Oh, and my SEVENTH child arrived today! My have experienced have 18 month old triplets! I think you always need an extra hand. Yes, for about an hour I had seven kids. Thankfully two were at school. But five kids under the age of 5! Now, that's a handful. We successfully got through lunch and all three made it alive till nap time! (I LOVE NAP TIME!) We just love this little Kennady! Krista if you wondering, she's still SMILING!

Kennady had her hair done from her Aunt Laurie...SO CUTE!

And here are my triplets sitting and laughing at Jared who came home for lunch! I got them all to sit on the stairs to try and get a cute picture. This is as good as it got! Cute kids.
So my work as a mother of SEVEN is done. I'm back to my two kids and Kennady for another day, until my mom takes over with her. Either way, three seems a walk in the park compared to SEVEN! Shan and Todd were able to go away for a romantic getaway to Midway...We planned it this way because they get to escape this week and next week it's our turn! So Shandra will be the mother of Six. Lucky her. I hope she survives. I must admit my Mom and Dad came up and helped me at night. I had way to many activities, work, YW basketball, a project, Jared gone working late, etc. It was impossible to do alone, so Thank You for helping out a daughter in need!!

Happy Birthday to Krista!

Krista has officially turned 25! Wow, we are all getting old. A funny thing about my childhood that always bothered me was that my younger sister had her birthday before me. This concept was so disturbing. I remember always feeling upset, sad and jealous because I was older so I should have my birthday first. Instead I would have to wait through her fun, presents, cake and party...then four days later it would finally be my birthday. It probably took about 10 years till my Grandma Aitken once said to me, "It doesn't mean she is older than you it's just that she was born on a different day earlier in the year than you." Finally my age and maturity had finally kicked in and what she said made sense. But I've always remembered it bothering me. It could have been the combination of the birthday thing and that people would always think she and I were twins or that I was younger because she was tall and I was short! Oh, the complexes I was given as a child. No worries now, I clearly understand that she is younger and cute at that! Happy Birthday!!

This had to be the highlight of the night. After dinner and cake we went to the church to play dodge ball and a good game of basketball. Once we tried out dodge ball and it didn't really seem to come together, we tried bball. So with two pregnant ladies and Krista who has never played since Junior High we were a pathetic group at that. The best moment was when Ange "SLOW BREAK" (instead of a fast break!) down the court trying to make a score when we were chasing after her. Krista came to her rescue and said, "Ange, go while no one else is coming!" It was hilarious because she had put her arm around her as if to help gently guide her down the court...very slowly! Anyways, we were stuck laughing so hard at watching the pregnant ladies play basketball! Hey, we had a great work out and it was full of laughs. So fun!

A trip to a museum...

Here we are posing at the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum at BYU. My mom really wanted to bring the grand kids to see all the animals. So last Saturday the entire family packed up and headed to Provo. We had to call up Brian & Ashley since they live right there to join in the fun. I'm not sure if they enjoyed the day at the museum more than studying?

Here's two BYU fans...well I would have to say that Conner is the worlds biggest BYU fan! He won't even wear the color red because it's the Utah's color! We blame my dad for turning him into a fanatical fan. They had to take their picture with the cougar right above them.

We stayed for a live reptile show where Alayna and the other kids were able to touch, a lizard, a turtle, some snake skin stuff and last of all a real snake! I was expecting Alayna to be a little hesitant but each time she stuck out her one finger to pet the reptiles. Way to go. I can say that I touched the turtle. That's huge for me!

Two buddies...Jake sure likes to give his cousins hugs! Ange we should have thrown the twins up there with them.

I had to post this picture because this shows Alayna is my daughter. During the reptile show they asked for volunteers. A few of the other grand kids shied away from the idea, but not Alayna she walked herself right up there in front of the group as if it was no big deal! My mom leaned over, "We know who's daughter she is!" I've never had a problem with being in front of groups so luckily I've passed on one good trait.

Following the museum we went to the Creamery on 9th for the cheap food and ice cream. The only way to describe our out to eat experience was a claustrophobic nightmare with way too many kids in a very small confined space and too many messes to mention, our food was good and we had too much ice cream to go around! I had to post this picture of Jacob's "angry eyes" as we call them, because he's becoming a little too good at showing us what he's really thinking about the idea!
Thanks again Mom for continuing to educate us and our children. I realized that I was getting a tad bored because I wasn't reading the information under each animal. Alayna came up and asked me a question about one of the animals, I told her I didn't know...she then said, "Did you read the sign like Grandma Lou does?" I had to laugh, I said, "No, I haven't yet!" She said, "You need to so you can tell me!" Isn't that the truth. I guess my Mom has passed on a valuable lesson to my daughter...reading gives you all the information you will ever need to know! THANKS MOM & DAD it was another fun family filled day.

Am I the only one...

(This is a picture of me and the kids at Oceanside, California last January 2008 - I'm just wishing we could zap ourselves and go TODAY!)

I'm just wondering if I am the only one LOVING the sunshine we have been receiving? Just for the record I have been wearing my long lost loves...flip flops! Yes, I have. Even if it is 40 degrees outside. I don't care! The sun is shining and I'm just counting down the weeks till I get to go to California and soak in the sun. So you probably figured out why I changed my blog from winter snow flakes to palm trees and sunshine!! I can't wait.

I wish I took a picture today of Alayna. She dressed her self with short shorts on, a tee shirt, flip flops and her sunglasses. She said, "Mom, I can't wait to wear this in the summer again!" We are ready for Summer!! I even let her wear them outside to walk up the street to her friends house. She thought it was the best. Hey, the sun was shining and she said, "Mom, we love the sunshine!" I couldn't agree with her more. She and I are meant to wear flip flops, ALWAYS.

Another "summer" moment, Jared and I were at the mall (I know! WHY? Another story.) And in a store they had a huge number countdown that said, "How many days till Summer..." Jared said, "I bet your excited, look only 14 days till summer!" I let out a huge, YEAH! But then to see the other "1" was turned sideways to make it 114 days till summer. Talk about depressing!!

WE SAW SANTA!!

I know that several people have been waiting to see this award winning video coverage of the kids on Christmas morning. This was the children expressing their excitement in seeing SANTA! I had forgotten about uploading it and putting it on my blog until someone reminded me that they really want to view the video! I hope you enjoy.

I love these moments!

I think one of my favorite moments of having two kids is to watch them LOVE each other. I really think seeing them connect and want to play with each other is so precious. Alayna has been sick and Jake would say, "My Alayna...Layna" then he'd go over to the couch and say, "Up...Up!" He wasn't content until he was laying right next to her and sharing a blanket. I really love having them like each other. It is so fun!

Something to make you laugh...

Okay, this is really funny! I was glad I just happened to have the camera right there. Jake decided that he wanted to wrestle. I'm sure after playing dress up with his sister and only have princess stuff around, he was ready to do "boy stuff!" This honestly is hilarious! Enjoy...

The "Neighb's!" Annual Christmas Party

UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY MINI-REUNION

Roon, Sarah, Stevo, Tracy and Di...

The ladies plus all the hubbies and kids!

For those of you neighb's that missed the party! Too bad. As expected it was great fun and tons of yummy food!!! This year was extra fun because we realized how we are growing OLD!!! We all met when we were freshman at Utah State University. That was NINE years ago! Since that point we have all married and started our families. Of those of us there we had SEVEN kids between us all and TWO still baking in the oven! How times change. I will be posting some really fun pictures of us 9 years ago...when we were single, wild and having fun!!

It really is exciting to think of all the fun things we did and have continued to support each other in during the past 9 years. I'm going to get a tad sappy here...that night even though it was 2:00AM I knelt in prayer being so thankful for meeting such WONDERFUL friends. Jared and I have really been so blessed to meet so many great friends. WE LOVE YOU ALL. We especially missed those of you who live to far away (like NC) and those of you who couldn't make it! Until next time...

Sledding

My little marshmellow man! Yes with all this lovely snow we had to brave the COLD and go sledding. As a kid I used to think it was a lot of work to go sledding. Ya, know gathering all the gear, getting dressed, getting boots one, gloves, coat, etc. And you can't forget making sure to go to the bathroom before you got all dressed up and left the house!! But now as a mother of two (and my hubby was working!) I had to do this three times. We got all dressed and loaded and then the phone rang to say sledding was off! I said, "You have got to be kidding me!" I told them I was still going after an hour of preparation! So off we went!

Krista and Riley ended up joining us after all! Thank you for humoring us.

Here in this picture Olivia and Alayna are going down the hill. Little did Aunt Krista know that Alayna thought Krista was going with her! So off they went! Alayna had a lovely crash at the bottom of the hill and was screaming, "I thought...Kista...was coming with me!" We all laughed pretty hard. Alayna calls Krista, Aunt Kista!

Our sledding fun ended when Jake sat up and said, "All done" and walked towards the car. He had had enough!! After a good hour of freezing I was also ready to go home for lunch! It really did make for a fun outing. I now see why I send Jared to take the kids sledding!

The morning after Christmas

Alayna has been in heaven playing dress-up and baby with her cousins. They all try their hardest to get their jobs done so they can play together. They really are having so much fun!

So many babies! You would think the kids would get their fill of all the "real" babies in this family!

This BIG smile is after Jake completed his 1st bowl of his "cookie" cereal! He couldn't be be more happy!!!

Christmas with the Sukers

Following the long morning of opening presents, playing in the snow and relaxing. We braved the weather and drove to go and see Randy and Danette. Luckily the roads weren't bad until we had to drive home. But our time spent there was so wonderful.

Little Jake loving his new Thomas the train toys.

Alayna was thrilled when she saw that Grandma Nettie had given her the remaining request to Santa..."I want a doll that needs EVERYTHING!" She was given an 8 in 1 play set. Highchair, porta-crib, swing, etc. It was so fun to see her get so excited.

Grandpa Randy enjoying Jake LOVING his new sports balls. I loved it! All night long Jake would say, "Granpa...come here!" He was just loving spending time with "Granpa...Granpa!"
They also gave Jake this darling little basket ball hoop. He LOVED it! He did a little dance of excitement every time he would make a basket! It truly was the highlight of the night.

Christmas Morning...

Santa brought 4 little dolls for all the four big kids. Yes, even Conner got a doll. Let's just say, he was just as excited as Alayna. Alayna's is the darling purple one on the left it happened to be the only one with brown eyes. So Santa knew exactly what one was just right for her. She has since named her doll, Rose. (I don't know where she got that from?) Olivia named her yellow doll, Crystal. Conner named his Dallin. Kierra named her doll, Sarah. It was been so much fun to watch all the kids play so well with each other. I love it!

What we woke up to Christmas morning! Keep in mind this is 5 families combined! It took us several hours taking turns to open presents. It was wonderful to all be together and sharing in this wonderful memory. I just LOVE my family! Earlier that morning I felt so overcome with love and appreciation for having them near by. I truly love living so close to them and having them all inner-connected with my daily life. We truly are so blessed to love each other so much.

Christmas Morning...In no particular order!

Santa got it right on when he brought Jake, "Cookie" cereal in his stocking! All morning long he said, "cookie...cookie!"

Santa brought Alayna a doll. But her request was, "a doll who needs everything!"

She was so excited when she opened her new favorite movie...Tinkerbell!

The great snow storm of Christmas 2008!! The men spent about 4 hours or MORE shoveling to get everyone out so we could go and visit more family members.

Merry Christmas!!

They are the reason we are all here and LOVING life! Our families motto:

2 Nephi 5:27 "And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness."

Lovin the 9 grand kids!

The original 4 Perry girls!

Merry Christmas!!

Are we the only family that takes a Christmas morning picture on the stairs? Well, please endure!

Riley, Kennady & Krista

Grady, Angela, Sawyer (red) and Logan (white)

Me, Jared, Alayna and Jake. (Some how our family had the worst picture!)

The Madsens..Shandra, Todd, Isaac, Olivia, Kierra and Conner (He's into posing like a model lately??)

Christmas Eve Traditions...

Three little girls who are anxiously awaiting to go to sleep so that they can wake up to see what Santa has brought. They left two cookies for Santa to enjoy!

After the kids opened their new pajamas it was the parents turn to start our "mommy & daddy traditions."

Shandra was given "peace" pants and a great "light up" kiss me shirt! (go Todd!), Angela...well her pj's took the cake this year. She matched her husband and two boys. It was hilarious!! Krista got to be red and green and I lucked out getting a new bath robe! So fun!!

The husbands were refusing to pose this year for another picture...especially in their pajama's! But do you notice Grady's great outfit! I love it. Oh, and the best part about the night was we were able to open up our sibling gifts to each other. I got the BEST thing a "Skookie" kit. It was given to me by Riley...two cast iron pans that you bake cookies in them. Ringing a bell anyone...Firehouse "Pizz-ooki" (I don't know how to spell it!) Either way I am so excited. I LOVED the gift idea.

Last but not least we were able to open up an envelope that contained what Angela and Grady's 3rd baby is going to be...drumroll....It's a BOY!! Way to go!! We are so excited to welcome yet another BOY into our family!
